Welcome to our space on the website.
We would like to start archiving and profiling our
members, so I figured that I would start with myself
and Mary to give everyone an idea of what we were
looking for.
I started in HAM Radio a little over a year ago
when my wife, Mary, and I joined the Thumb Amateur
Radio Club. The wonderful people and warm atmosphere
had won us over after the first meeting. Good friend
and T.A.R.C. President, KF8ZO Ted Davis, had sparked
an interest, and the rest is history.
I received my license at the first testing in September
of 2005. Since then, I have been adding to my collection
of equipment.
My first radio was a Yaesu VX-170 HT. A very nice
radio - and at the time - all I thought that I would
ever want. Pretty soon, I needed a mobile. I purchase
a dual band Yaesu FT-7800 and a Diamond Dual Band
antenna.
In January of 2006, my wife Mary had done a great
job studying for her test, and received her Technician
license. This was double great news for me! Not
only did my wife have her license, but the voice
of reason on equipment purchases was kicked out
of the house in time for our tax return.
It was now time to start building
our HAM Shack. Below is some pictures and an equipment
list that we have.

A view of all the vital parts. Even have a
cheat sheet for the menu's on the 897D. |

Yaesu 897D, Mirage 160W 2meter Amplifier,
Pyramid 52Amp Power Supply.

The whole shack. One of these days, the
computer will be used to do some packet
work. For now, it is used to build this
site, interface with the 897D for programming
and surf the net.
